This documentation is for setting up the Flyingpress speed plugin when first conducting speed optimizations on a client site. Make sure to follow these steps when installing and setting up Flyingpress to ensure proper installation and settings.
FlyingPress Website Speed Optimization Steps
1. Enable Key Settings #
Go to FlyingPress → Settings and enable:
- Preload Links on HoverStarts loading pages when users hover over links for faster navigation
- Separate Mobile Cache & OptimizationsCreates separate versions for mobile with their own cache and optimizations
Leave Delay JavaScript disabled for now, as it may break sliders, carousels, or tracking scripts.
2. CSS & JS Optimization #
Enable the following under FlyingPress → Optimization:
- Minify CSS
- Minify JavaScript
- Remove Unused CSS (optional – can be enabled later if needed)
3. Media Optimization #
Enable lazy loading for:
- Images
- Videos
- iFrames
4. Double-Check Initial Settings #
Confirm these two settings are checked:
- Preload Links on Hover
- Separate Mobile Cache & Optimizations
5. Clear & Rebuild Cache Layers #
After making changes:
- In FlyingPress: click Purge & Preload Cache
- In Elementor: go to Elementor → Tools and click Clear CSS Cache and Sync Library
- In WP Engine (or your hosting panel): clear all server-level caches(wait a few minutes after clearing local caches before clearing host cache again if needed)
6. Test the Site #
Open the site in an incognito window and check:
- Sliders, carousels, popups, and animations
- General layout and link behavior
7. Optimize Large Media Files #
Browse through key pages (especially homepage) and:
- Look for large or uncompressed media
- Compress oversized images (target under 200 KB where possible)
- Use modern formats like WebP for better performance
- Resize large background images or videos if needed
